The first 7 strands represent those 7 generations behind us, our ancestors.

Next 7 represent the  sacred teachings of Love, Respect, Honesty, Courage, Wisdom, Truth and Humility.

 Last 7 strands are those of the 7 generations in front of us.

These are woven into the three strands which represent the sun, earth and water and when combined the three represent the givers of life.
